Best AI video generator for long videos: 16 tools compared (2026)
The best AI video generator for long videos depends on what kind of long you mean. For a story told in scenes, Nima's Long-form Video makes the whole film from your text, up to about an hour from one upload; MagicLight offers 30 or 50 minute story videos, LongStories.ai 10 to 15 minutes, and OpenArt Director up to five. For a talking presenter, Synthesia goes to four hours a video and HeyGen to an hour. The clip models still make short clips: 30 seconds at most in one go (Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5), 8 to 16 seconds for most, so a long video from them means joining clips. We make Nima, so weigh our view accordingly; every fact about the other tools was read on the company's own site on 23 October 2026.

Three kinds of long
"Long video" means three different things, and the tools split along them:
- Story makers. They make the whole video from a story or a script, with scenes, narration and voices: Nima, MagicLight, LongStories.ai, OpenArt Director, and Higgsfield's narrated tools.
- Clip generators. They make one shot at a time, 8 to 30 seconds: Kling, Seedance, Runway, Google Flow, Vidu, Hailuo and Luma. A long video from them is many clips joined in an editor.
- Presenter tools. A talking avatar reads your script: Synthesia and HeyGen. They go long, but it is one person talking, not a story in scenes.
For a story longer than a minute, the question that decides it is the same one as for any long film: does every scene show the same people? How each tool keeps a character.
For a whole story: the long-form makers
Nima Long-form Video. You paste a story, a chapter or a script, up to 10,000 words at a time, about an hour of film. Nima draws each character once as a sheet you approve, builds each place once as a set, and gives them to every shot; each speaking character keeps one voice, picked from five auditions. You review the whole film as a storyboard with the voices before anything is animated. The film above is half of an hour-long Sherlock Holmes story made this way. One trailer of 15 to 20 seconds is free.
MagicLight. "Select a 30- or 50-minute runtime", and it expands a script into scenes; the long runtime is on Standard and up, $15 a month. Its Standard plan lists "Up to 110 min video generation" next to "Up to 230s image-to-video generation" a month; the page does not say how the two fit together in one long video.
LongStories.ai. Narration and character voices from your text. "The longest video depends on your plan: 10 minutes on Pro and Creator, 15 minutes on Creator Max, Studio and Studio Max", that is $59 and $199 a month. A new episode "keeps the characters, places and objects, the look, the voices". Signing up is free; generating a video needs a paid plan.
OpenArt Director. "Generate videos up to five minutes long with no stitching", directed in chat, with saved characters and a voice per character.
Higgsfield. Its own blog gives "Up to 5 minutes in Faceless Studio, up to 10 minutes in Explainer", narrated animated videos, and 30 seconds a generation in Cinema Studio 4.0.
LTX Studio. Turns a script into scenes and shots of 3 to 20 seconds, then you "Combine multiple clips in the Timeline to create longer videos like trailers or short films". Saving consistent characters (Elements) needs the $35 Standard plan.
InVideo AI. An agent that writes the script and stitches stock footage, generated clips and voiceover. On characters, in its own words: "Reference support varies by model, and exact consistency is not guaranteed."
For clips: how long each model goes in one generation
- Kling 4.0: 3 to 30 seconds, with dialogue in 9 languages and up to 15 reference assets. Its feature page says extension reaches 2 minutes; its user guide marks that as "Coming soon".
- Seedance 2.5, in Dreamina: up to 30 seconds, extendable to 180 seconds in a beta long-video mode, with sound and up to 50 references.
- Vidu Q4: up to 16 seconds of several shots, with sound and up to 15 reference pictures.
- MiniMax H3, in Hailuo: 5 to 15 seconds with stereo sound.
- Google Flow: 10 seconds on Gemini Omni Flash 1.1, 8 on Veo 3.1; Veo clips extend with Veo 3.1 Lite.
- Runway Gen-4.5: 2 to 10 seconds; a Multi-Shot Video app makes up to 5 shots in one 10-second video.
- Luma Ray3.2: 5 or 10 seconds, with no sound of its own. Luma says its Scenes tool is "designed for short-form sequencing, not long-form filmmaking".
Joining clips into a long video
Runway's Stitch app joins clips "into one continuous video, up to a total duration of 60 minutes", and any editor can do the same. Joining is the easy part. A 30-minute film is 180 to 360 shots at 5 to 10 seconds a shot, and still 60 at 30 seconds; every one of them has to show the same people, in the same places, with the same voices. How to make a 30 or 60 minute movie with AI goes through the numbers, and how to make AI videos longer than 10 seconds through the joining.
Talking presenters: long, but one person
"A Synthesia video can contain a maximum of 150 scenes, each up to 5 minutes long, with a total duration of up to 4 hours." Its $29 Starter plan adds about 12 minutes of video a month to a free 10. HeyGen makes videos up to 30 minutes on its $29 Creator plan and up to 60 on Business, $149 a month. Both are made for a presenter or a digital twin of you, reading a script.
Sora is gone
OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on 26 April 2026 and its API on 24 September 2026, according to its own help page. Some tools still list Sora 2 in their model menus; we have not checked whether it still runs there.
Test a long-video tool before you pay
- Write one minute of your story, about 150 words, with two characters who talk.
- Make it in the tool without editing anything by hand.
- Watch the last ten seconds next to the first ten. Same faces, same clothes, same room?
- Listen to the voices. Does each character sound the same the second time they speak?
- Multiply what you had to fix by your real length. Whatever took ten minutes for one minute of film takes five hours for half an hour.
Common questions
What is the best AI video generator for long videos?
For a story in scenes, a tool that makes the whole video from your text: Nima's Long-form Video (up to about an hour from one upload), MagicLight (30 or 50 minutes), LongStories.ai (10 to 15 minutes) or OpenArt Director (5 minutes). For a talking presenter, Synthesia (4 hours a video) or HeyGen (up to 60 minutes).
Can AI make an hour-long video?
Yes. Nima's Long-form Video makes about an hour of animated film from one upload of up to 10,000 words, and we have made two hour-long Sherlock Holmes films that way. Synthesia and HeyGen make presenter videos of an hour or more, and Runway's Stitch joins clips up to 60 minutes.
What is the longest clip an AI video model makes in one go?
30 seconds, on 23 October 2026: Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 both make up to 30 seconds per generation. Most others make 8 to 16 seconds.
Which AI can make a 10 minute video?
LongStories.ai makes 10 minutes on its $59 plan, Higgsfield's Explainer up to 10 by its own blog, and MagicLight, HeyGen, Synthesia and Nima's Long-form Video go longer. A 10-minute animated film in Nima starts from about 1,500 words of text.
How do I make AI videos longer than 10 seconds?
Join clips in an editor or in Runway's Stitch app, keeping the same reference pictures for every clip, or use a tool that makes the whole video from a script so there is nothing to join.
Is Sora still available?
No. OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on 26 April 2026 and the Sora API on 24 September 2026.
Is there a free AI generator for long videos?
Not for long ones. Synthesia's free plan makes 10 minutes of watermarked video a month, HeyGen's free videos run up to 1 minute, and Google Flow gives 50 credits a day. In Nima, your first trailer is free.
