How to make training videos for employees (with AI)
Updated 28 October 2026
Start from one behaviour, not the whole policy
Most training videos fail the same way: someone reads the policy aloud over stock footage, and nobody remembers a word of it by Friday. Before you write anything, finish this sentence: after watching this, the person will ... One verb, one moment on the job. Report the email. Ask before judging. Lock out the machine before reaching in.
One video, one behaviour. If you have five rules to teach, you have five short videos, and each of them is easier to make, to update and to watch.
Five ways to make one
| Way | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Screen recording | a narrated walk through software | how to use a tool, step by step |
| Filming your staff | real faces and real places, a day of shooting, retakes | a welcome from the CEO, a site tour |
| AI presenter | a digital person reads your script to camera, in many languages | announcements, explainers |
| Animated templates | a cartoon scene you assemble shot by shot from a library | simple scenes, if you have the time |
| An AI director (Nima Learn) | a whole animated film drafted from your brief, every picture editable, voiced | scenarios with people in them, in your look |
The first three are about information: a screen, a face, a voice. Animation is about behaviour, because you can show the moment it goes wrong without filming anyone doing it wrong.
Step by step with Nima Learn
- Paste the brief. The policy, the procedure or the situation you want people to handle. Nima Learn's director, an AI assistant you talk to, drafts the plan: the scenes, the shots, who is in them, the places and the lines.
- Fix the plan. Reorder or retime the scenes, cut one in two, ask for a reaction shot. The plan is the thing you edit, and a change to it redraws the storyboard.
- Approve the cast and the places. Each character is built once and reused in every shot. Add your brand folder (logo, fonts, colours) and photos of the real place if you want the film to look like your branch, clinic or plant.
- Walk the storyboard. Circle any part of a picture and say what to change; the rest of the picture stays put. Write the lines on the shot's timeline and drag them to their second.
- Choose the motion per shot. Camera moves, highlights and on-screen text are drawn in seconds; full character movement is rendered by a video model only on the shots that need it.
- Record, preview, export. Every line is voiced as a take, music is made for the film, and the export is one mp4.
Make it something people watch
- Tell it as a scene. Two people, one place, one problem. A doctor and a patient, a teller and an upset customer, an operator and a jammed press.
- Show the mistake before the fix. People remember the near miss more than the rule.
- Use characters your staff recognise. A recurring cast across your videos builds familiarity, the way a series does.
- End on the one line you want remembered. Put it on screen and have the narrator say it.
- Keep it short. How long a training video should be.
What to have ready
- The brief: the policy page, the procedure, or two lines on the situation.
- Who it is for: the roles who will watch it.
- The one thing they should do differently.
- Your brand folder: logo, fonts, colours.
- Optional: a few photos of the real place, so the film looks like your branch, clinic or plant.
Then write the script, or let the director draft it from the brief and edit what it gives you.
Common questions
How do I make a training video for employees?
Pick one behaviour, write a short scene that shows it, and make it as a one-to-three-minute video. With Nima Learn you paste the brief, fix the plan the director drafts, approve the cast, and export an mp4.
Can AI make training videos?
Yes. AI presenter tools read a script to camera; Nima Learn drafts a whole animated film from your brief, with characters, voices and music, and you edit every picture and line.
How long should a training video be?
One to three minutes for a single scene, and rarely more than six. One behaviour per video.
Can the video use our company's look?
Yes. A brand folder (logos, fonts, colours, notes) and a look (paper-cut, corporate flat, photoreal or illustrated) are applied to every picture, and photos of your real premises can seed the places.
Does it export to my LMS?
Nima Learn exports an mp4, which most learning platforms accept as a video item.
